A Quick Update Before I Hit the Road [sxsw]

imageI’m starting to accept the fact that this blog is very closely representing something like personal voice and diary, very close to it’s origins, as I haven’t had time to put the usual professional polish on my posts that I have tried to do in the last couple of years.

I hope that’s OK with you, readers.  If not, well, there isn’t much that can be done about it.

At any rate, I’m trying to get as much done in a short period of time, as I need to hit the sack and get up early in the morning for the three hour drive to Austin.

I had planned on putting up my party schedule, but that’ll have to wait until tomorrow night (or, alternatively, you can keep a close eye on my Twitter account). On that note, I actually don’t have anything on my calendar for tomorrow night, so once everything’s done, I’ll retire to the Belmont, tap out my articles, and wait for someone to tell me what’s happening in the city.

A Final Thanks to My Sponsors

First and foremost, I want to thank OneSpot.  If you haven’t seen my interview with their CEO, Matt Cohen, you should check it out. If you don’t have the time, you can check him out on the live coverage – he’s scheduled for an interview sometime tomorrow, as well as an appearance on a panel discussion exclusive to the live stream with Nova Spivack and Guy Kawasaki.

I’ll be stopping by the OneSpot offices tomorrow to pick up the schwag from them I’ll be handing out, which will consist of free trials of their paid service, a whitelabel memetracker. If you see me, and you’re interested in trying it out, come grab one from me.

I’d also like to thank UStream.TV, who are also sponsoring my coverage, and putting me on the air with another panel of experts from the world of music: Michael Sean Write of nicefishfilms, Dr. Tony Shore of ObviousPop, Lucas Hendrickson of The Tennessean, Evan White, Peter Himmelman. The show will air right around 4 PM every day (just hit up rizzn.com’s main page to watch it, or go to ustream.tv/sxsw.

We’ll be joined on different days by guests like Marc Canter, Leo Laporte, Robert Scoble and others.  It’s definitely going to be a great time, and a slew of good conversations.

I want to show special appreciation for my media sponsors.  John Furrier, big kahuna and co-contributor with me over at SiliconANGLE really came through for me today, and has helped make this trip possible.  Duncan Riley also really came through in a big way.  While I was working at my last gig, it turned out that none of the company press passes had been reserved for me, and the alottment for our company had been used up on the management.

Duncan let me get certified under the Inquisitr, and brought me on as a contributor for the week – so you’ll be seeing some of my coverage show up there from time to time as well.

Finally, I want to thank Michael Sean Wright, who put in a lot of effort getting together an all star staff in front of and behind the camera for the live stream… this is going to be one of the best productions and greatest lineups of interesting programming I’ve been a part of.

I know my friends Mazy and Brad Hunstable are going to be pretty involved with the production, and Michael also brought in my friends from Tyler’s N-Ventive Studios to run a second booth and set of cameras.

That’s about it…

This was supposed to be a short, quick and dirty note before I hit the sack.  Instead I’ve rambled for a few hundred words. Bottom line, I’m pretty excited to be attending this year, so if you see me, say hi! If you won’t be there, make sure you tune in to the FriendFeed group and the UStream channel.
